{"id":271,"date":"2026-10-07T00:09:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T00:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/evanehrenberg.com\/?p=271"},"modified":"2026-10-07T01:12:54","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T01:12:54","slug":"the-texas-chain-saw-massacre-the-metal-door-an-exceptional-scene","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/evanehrenberg.com\/?p=271","title":{"rendered":"The Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Metal Door (An Exceptional Scene)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/evanehrenberg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-edited.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evanehrenberg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-edited.png 768w, https:\/\/evanehrenberg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-edited-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What separates man from steer if we die the same way?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A simple bash on the head can kill just about any living creature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Humans sit at the top; so we don&#8217;t think about the dangers of being corralled, farmed, or otherwise hunted down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Director Tobe Hooper believes in a simple philosophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The only difference between the lamb and the slaughterer is the mallet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kirk knocks on the door of an old, decrepit, but lived-in farmstead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There&#8217;s no answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sounds of an operating generator lead him to believe someone is home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He&#8217;s reluctant, but in need of help, so he enters the home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the other end of the hallway is a doorway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The red wall provides the only color on the property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Animal skulls align from the ceiling to the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sounds of squeals come from somewhere through the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe it&#8217;s a hunter, a farmer, or someone herding sheep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sounds get louder, leading him inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kirk says &#8220;Hello&#8221; in an attempt to make his presence known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He quickens his pace up through the hall, tripping on the wood ramp, nearly falling to the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without a sound, he looks up, and there he is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The camera slowly tilts upward toward Leatherface&#8217;s head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His mallet raised high in the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without a scream, a shout, and only a screech from the killer&#8217;s mouth, he swings at Kirk&#8217;s head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a sharp crack, Kirk is knocked down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His body starts to convulse intensely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leatherface looks at him for a moment, filling the frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He lifts his prey, moving him out of the door&#8217;s path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He screams and slams the metal door, producing a loud crash, like a slaughterhouse gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kirk is gone, but to his killer, he&#8217;s nothing more than a carcass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What separates man from steer if we die the same way?
